Speaker Fecteau Issues Statement Following Governor’s State of the State Address

AUGUSTA – Speaker of the House Ryan D. Fecteau (D-Biddeford) tonight issued the following statement on Governor Mills’ State of the State Address:

“In her final State of the State Address, Governor Mills demonstrated her steadfast commitment to the state of Maine and its people. She made clear that Maine will not be intimidated by the unlawful actions of the federal government, and laid out a plan to address the challenges that keep Mainers up at night: rising costs of housing, energy, and everyday necessities.

She echoed the priorities that legislative Democrats are laser focused on: lowering costs for Maine people and strengthening communities across our state. I was particularly pleased to hear that the Governor remains committed to building more homes for working families, because continuing to invest in housing, will make it possible for more Maine people – more working families – to achieve the dream of homeownership.

I look forward to reviewing the Governor’s full supplemental budget proposal in the coming weeks and following the thoughtful work of the Appropriations Committee as they shape it to do the most good for the most Maine people. Our constituents deserve nothing less.”
